Committed to Excellence in Patient Care, Teaching and Research
Kingston General Hospital is a principal teaching hospital for Queen’s
University and is also affiliated with other educational institutions. Our
learners are multi-cultural and multi-faith. As a teaching hospital, we provide
expert care for patients who have complex and challenging illnesses.
Your attending physician has a university appointment and par-ticipates in
research and teaching. An important part of our mission is to provide excellent
patient care while educating and training future doctors, nurses and other
healthcare professionals.
During your stay in the hospital, male and female students and post-graduate
trainees representing various health professions will be involved in your care.
They will introduce themselves to you, however, at all times, your attending
physician is ultimately responsible for your care and treatment. During your
entire stay, your care is coordinated through the efforts of an
inter-disciplinary patient care team.
As a patient in a teaching hospital, you have the opportunity to participate in
training the health professionals of the future. Being a university and college
affiliated hospital keeps Kingston General Hospital at the forefront of patient
care, medical knowledge, and health related research. Should you have any
questions regarding the involvement of students or post-graduate trainees in
the delivery of your care, please discuss them with your attending physician or
the nurse in charge.
