Infectious Diseases

Clinical
The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) provides tertiary level inpatient consultative care for adult and paediatric patients of the Southeastern Ontario Health Sciences Centre. Secondary and tertiary outpatient care is provided through outpatient clinics for adults at Kingston General Hospital, and at Hotel Dieu Hospital for those aged 18 years and younger. Specialized clinics, such as the Clinical Immunology Outpatient Clinic, provide care for patients with HIV infection and AIDS. Through the Regional Home/ Ambulatory Program the Division provides outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy throughout Southeastern Ontario.

While the role of the ID Division is to provide services for the Southeastern Ontario region, patients and requests for consultations and advice from beyond the region, are accepted.

Research
The research role of the Division of Infectious Diseases includes independent and collaborative studies of a varied nature, including clinical trials and epidemiologic studies.
