Clinical
The Division of Neurosurgery provides a broad range of specialty neurosurgical care for the population of Southeastern Ontario. All aspects of neurosurgical care are provided with the exception of complex stereotatic pain and movement disorder procedures. The Division works collaboratively to offer full interventional neuroradiology services for extracranial cerebrovascular disease and intracranial vascular disorders.

Along with 24 hour seven days per week emergency coverage 365 days a year and inpatient coverage, the Division has scheduled, and emergency, operating room time. The Division also provides ambulatory neurosurgical services for outpatient consultations and follow-up visits through its clinics. The Division, as Part of KGH Medical team is the exclusive supplier of neurosurgical interventions to the Eastern Ontario Region. It also participates in Criti-Call, the Ontario Emergency Patient Referral Program.

The service has an interdependent relationship with Neurology, the cerebrovascular clinic and the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario at Kingston General Hospital. They also rely on services provided by clinical lab, diagnostic imaging, radiation oncology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, intensive care, mental health and addictions, palliative care, chronic care/complex continuing care and respite care, emergency services, social work and specialized nursing including an Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Practitioners.

Research
The research role of the Division of Neurosurgery focuses on cerebrovascular disease, and spinal cord and head injury. Collaborative clinical research initiatives with other disciplines, such as neurology, rehabilitation medicine, interventional radiology, and psychology, are pursued.
