Clinical
The Division of Vascular Surgery
provides tertiary level emergency and elective
care for people with vascular diseases in
the Southeastern Ontario region and consultations
to physicians for assessments and care.
The scope of vascular surgery provided includes,
but is not limited to, that for diseases
of the aortic arch and great vessels, thoracic
aortic surgery, surgery on the abdominal
aortic and its branches, peripheral vascular
surgery of the upper and lower extremities,
and cerebrovascular disease outside of the
cranium.
Complete vascular surgical care and consultation
is provided 24 hours a day seven days
per week. Outpatient consultation is coordinated
through the vascular surgery office and
patients are seen in clinic. Inpatient consultation
is either arranged
Research Research within the Division of Vascular
Surgery is clinically focused on topics
such as the natural history of aortic abdominal
aneurysms and the high-risk population of
aortic abdominal aneurysms greater than
six centimeters.
In addition, the Division supports research
focused on health service through the exploration
of issues involving access to clinical service
and accountability of service providers.
This role includes maintenance of prospective
databases to assess the timeliness of access
to health care and definitive treatment.
