Anesthesiology

The members of the Department of Anesthesiology are involved in a range of research endeavours. These range from basic science bench work in the neurological and cardiovascular sciences, to epidemiological risk and outcome monitoring, to clinical trials. Our clinical research protocols are implemented at both the Kingston General and Hotel Dieu Hospital sites, and include work in the areas of autonomic circulatory control, perioperative outcome management, pain mechanisms (acute and chronic), informatics, and clinical cardiac anesthesiology. The research protocols are well funded by both industrial and academic granting sources.

The Queen's Department of Anesthesiology possesses one of the most active Anesthesiology research groups in the country, and is recognized at the local, national and international levels. Our researchers regularly present at meetings, contribute to the national research organizations, and publish in the major anesthesiology and medical journals. The Department also publishes an annual Newsletter of Anesthesiology Research at Queen's (the NARQ).
