Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics is involved in a wide variety of research activities involving clinical, basic science and education fields. Specific areas of research include the ethics of decision-making for the pediatric population, use of alternative therapies in children with chronic diseases, transfusion practices in newborns, pre-medication for intubation in newborns, risk/prevention of diabetes, childhood infectious diseases, prevention of neonatal sepsis, bronchiolitis therapy, new cancer therapies, the specific cognitive deficits in autism, behaviour problems related to poor sleep quality, food allergy pathophysiology, mechanisms of esophagitis, sequelae of acquired brain injuries, mechanisms of brain damage triggered by fetal inflammatory responses, child health priorities and education in developing countries and evaluation strategies in medical education.
