Department of Urology

The Department of Urology at Queen's University is composed of six urologists with expertise in all fields of urological care, with special interest in kidney stones, urological cancers, andrology (sexual dysfunction and hormonal problems associated with aging), and infectious diseases. The department has a very active and diverse research division that has made pioneering and internationally recognized contributions in the fields of oncology, inflammatory pelvic conditions and sexual medicine. It has established productive collaboration with numerous research physicians and scientists nationally and globally.

For over 20 years, members of the department have found themselves at the forefront of a dynamic, challenging and ever important part of research – clinical trials of drugs and devices for human health, many developed by departmental investigators. To this end they participate in numerous ongoing single and multi-centred national and international clinical trials sponsored by several peer-review agencies both in Canada (CIHR, NCIC) and the United States (NIH) as well as pharmaceutical and equipment manufacturers from Europe and North America. The establishment of the Centre for Applied Urological Research provides a new dimension and further capacity and recognition to a department with a well-earned reputation for innovative research and an enviable publication record.
