Queen's University Anesthesiology Informatics Laboratory at Kingston General Hospital (QUAIL)

Since 1999, the Queen's University Anesthesiology Informatics Laboratory at Kingston General Hospital (QUAIL) has been conducting studies and developing a broad range of solutions and services, providing tools for health care providers and researchers that create exciting new possibilities in healthcare. Based in Kingston General Hospital, the research group focuses on the development and evaluation of portable technologies such as handheld devices and tablets using wireless networking and web based tools, as well as providing interfaces to existing clinical hospital information systems. While the initial impetus for development evolved from Anesthesiology, growing interest has led to the development of applications across disciplines (e.g., palliative care, medical education, breast assessment, asthma, COPD, patient self assessment KIOSKs, symptom surveillance of infectious disease outbreaks) and in a variety of settings (e.g., hospital, clinic, home).
